Francisco Garcia Torres Growing His Chiles
My grandfather Francisco is the very reason I do what I do in the garden. He taught me to respect and nurture life so that I may in return be nurtured. It is that simple.

Funny how it sometimes seems to leap a generation. My grandmother had a very impressive garden, and I remember shelling beans with her. I only visited her a few times as a child, and we garden very differently. However, it must be in the blood. I wish I’d had more time to pick her brains.
My theory, however, seems to doom my children to not-gardening, and none of my cousins gardens, so maybe it’s just hot air.
But the ancestors are the groundwork, so to speak.
