Rabbit Night Feces

I found some rabbit night feces! Compare image to left with typical rabbit pellets to right. This is what the stuff looks like.

We have a large opossum that keeps finding its way to Virgil’s (the male rabbit) hutch at night. Not sure if an opossum can kill an equally large male rabbit but I don’t want to risk it. I went to go check this evening. Brought my flash light and when I flashed in the hutch, lo and behold! I saw the much sought after rabbit “Night Feces.” I just posted about this. I’ve been lamenting that the orphaned kits would not get proper nutrition to develop the bacteria in their gut. However, seeing this I snagged it and fed it to them. Gross but it is apparently really good for them. Now I know to check around 10:30PM.

I am so glad you’re posting all this stuff you’re learning in case I ever need it. BTW, I’m not ignoring your email, just trying to figure out good weekends.

Thanks for sharing. Now I’m really not going to rear rabbits.
